Autovista Group TCO Awards – deadline looming for entries

The 17 March deadline for entries to be filed for Autovista Group's inaugural TCO Awards event is looming. There are many champions of total cost of ownership (TCO) in the industry and this event is the opportunity to throw the spotlight on them and truly recognise their contribution.

There are 15 categories, including a range of options for Car of the Year and two categories for OEMs. There are also categories for Alternative Fuel and Mobility, Fleet or Leasing Car of the Year and Distinguished TCO Manager of the Year, among others. All categories can be found here.

Recognition

When asked why is it important to recognise achievement in TCO beyond simply achieving the lowest TCO, CEO of Gaia Innovation and founder of UK Automotive 30% Club Julia Muir said:  ′It is critical to be able to see that there is a holistic strategy supporting the goal to reducing the costs for car customers.

′Some actions such as innovative design and engineering solutions could take time to implement but will lead to significant benefits in the longer term that may not yet have been reaped. These could be important game changers for the sector, and so should receive recognition.'

From entries, Julia is hoping to see the recognition of a potential shift towards customers assessing the costs of their overall mobility and away from private car ownership, as this is predicted to decline with OEMs repositioning themselves as mobility providers.

′I would also really like to see if any entry has been truly ground-breaking and investigated the tangible TCO/ TCM differences between male and female customers by disaggregating the data by gender,' she adds. ′We know that women and men have different journey patterns and there may also be differences in driving behaviour, TCO awareness, and prioritisation in the purchase decision. There is much evidence to show that by aggregating data, the voice of the female customer is often lost.'
