Ford Kuga – Enhanced space and equipment

The Ford Kuga has grown in length, to 4.62 metres, giving it an even more practical feel and enhanced roominess, especially in the rear. However, the new model is closer in size to a D-SUV, which could present more of an issue in city centres than for most C-SUV rivals.

A number of powertrains are available, including petrol, diesel and self-charging hybrid variants. This wide choice gives the model the opportunity to entice people who may not have been interested in its predecessor. The new model is also offered as a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) to try to tempt company car drivers away from diesel variants.

The Kuga boasts a full set of safety and driving aids including: stop and go, speed-sign recognition, head-up display, active park assist, and lane-centring technology. The car offers good value compared to models from its main competitors, especially given the equipment level. There are numerous competitors in the C-SUV segment, however, and many popular rivals will either be fully renewed or receive facelifts in 2020 or 2021, representing tough competition for the Kuga in the coming years.
