Japanese car company Nissan has set up a new unit to help expand its NISMO road car section by increasing the number of models available to customers across a greater market area.
The NISMO Cars business Department is part of Autech Japan Inc., a Nissan group company that makes converted vehicles. It aims to combine the resources and talent of other companies within the group, such as Autech, Nissan Motorsports International and the parent manufacturer to plan and launch more NISMO branded products in a shorter space of time.
Nissan plans to expand the range of vehicles offered under its ′tuned’ badge to new markets around the globe while boosting the existing markets with new models, in areas including Japan, Europe, North America and the Middle East. The company introduced NISMO to its mainstream model line-up in 2013 to bring customers more innovation and excitement, in line with other manufacturer examples such as BMW’s M-Sport and Mercedes AMG. Cars already on the market include the GT-R, Juke, Note, Sentra and Patrol.
Takao Katagiri, president and CEO of both Autech Japan and Nissan Motorsports International, comments: ′As a Nissan sub-brand, NISMO further builds upon the core values of Nissan cars. With the combined expertise of Nissan group companies, NISMO road cars will make customers enjoy Nissan cars more than ever.’
The new business group will also work with Nissan Motorsports International on marketing, including showing NISMO-badged cars at dealerships and showrooms, and holding events and activities for owners.
