Peugeot 2008 – Distinctively improved
26 June 2020
The new Peugeot 2008 has a sporty and distinctive style with balanced proportions, a bold front grille and Peugeot’s characteristic, eye-catching front and rear lights. There are great improvements compared to its predecessor in terms of exterior dimensions and interior space, including legroom and boot volume. CO2 emissions and fuel consumption are lower too.
The 2008 has LED headlights on all trim levels and the interior benefits from technological features such as the 3D i-Cockpit and a 7-inch touchscreen. However, the model has comparatively high prices, especially at the entry-level because of the lack of a base petrol engine, while some features are only optional on lower trim levels.
The new car will benefit from the positive growth trend of the B-SUV segment and is available with a battery-electric powertrain, which opens up further sales opportunities. Its larger dimensions may also expand its customer base with buyers from the C-SUV segment.
Competition in the B-SUV segment has become even fiercer though, with renewed versions of the Renault Captur and Nissan Juke, facelifts of the SEAT Arona, Hyundai Kona and Kia Stonic, and new segment entrants such as the Ford Puma and the forthcoming Toyota Yaris Cross.
