What is the outlook for Europe’s EV market in 2025?
05 March 2025

What is the European outlook for electrification, electric vehicle (EV) residual values (RVs) and total cost of ownership (TCO)? Autovista Group experts will explore the EV outlook with Autovista24 editor Tom Geggus in an upcoming webinar.
In 2024, sales of new EVs, including battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) and plug-in hybrids (PHEVs), reached over 2.96 million units. This equated to a decline of 1.8% compared with 2023.
Many of Europe’s major used-car markets have also seen EV residual values (RVs) decline compared with the previous year. BEVs in particular have recorded the lowest value retention rates of any powertrain, as revealed in the latest Monthly Market Update.
For industry insiders managing fleets, risks and RVs, this is closely tied to calculating the TCO. Comparing how much different powertrains end up costing a business can reveal some difficult truths for electric vehicles.
So how will Europe’s new EV market develop this year? Will the value retention rates of BEVs and PHEVs improve? Do electric vehicles lead the way in terms of TCO? All these questions will be answered in an upcoming webinar on 12 March at 9.30am GMT (10.30 CET). Register now for: EV outlook 2025 – What is in store for Europe?
