Charge point milestone as France embraces electric vehicles

Domestic Utility company Proxiserve has installed its 25,000th charging station in France as it signs a partnership agreement with Korean manufacturer Kia to supply points to its customers in the country. 

The company already has such agreements with Hyundai, Renault, PSA, Nissan and Volkswagen and receives 1000 requests per month for its electric vehicle charging points. Proxiserve has a fleet of 140 technicians across 60 agencies to ensure it meets demand. 

These figures mimic the uptake of electrically chargeable vehicles in the country, with a 1.4% market share in 2016 coming above the European average, according to ACEA data.  

There are already 117,000 electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids on the road in France, with companies such as the Renault Nissan Alliance leading the global push in their sales. The French national association for the development of electric mobility (AVERE) estimates that by 2020, there could be up to 350,000 electric vehicles on the road in the country.
