The diesel market has suffered in 2018 with sales dropping across the EU. However, alternatively fuelled vehicles (AFV), including hybrid and electric, have yet to take up the slack, meaning that the petrol sector has grown. This has had a knock on effect on CO2 levels, with Europe seeing a rise last year.

However, carmakers are developing their AFV ranges, with announcements about financial commitments and production of new vehicles. Some are also retooling their plants and developing battery centres as they look to an electric future.

With new European CO2 targets set to come into force in 2025, Autovista Group wants to know which fuel type will be the most popular in 2028. Will petrol prevail, can diesel make a comeback or will hydrogen finally come to the fore? Have your say in our latest survey.
