Survey: Would you feel safe giving total driving control to an autonomous vehicle?

05 April 2019

5 April 2019 The UK would see a £62 billion (€72.2 billion) boost to its economy by 2030 if it leads the race for autonomous vehicle development, according to a new report. The technology development could create 420,000 jobs, save 3,900 lives and prevent 47,000 serious accidents in the country, with one in every five miles travelled in 2030 taking place in a driverless vehicle. However, Daimler chairman Dieter Zetsche recently pointed to problems surrounding Boeing’s 737-MAX problems as a warning to the automotive industry over public perception of the technology, calling for developers to take their time and not rush introduction. With benefits for economy but wariness over safety, Autovista Group is asking readers of its Daily News Brief whether you would feel safe giving control to on-board systems in any of the following situations. (function(t,e,s,n){var o,a,c;t.SMCX=t.SMCX||[],e.getElementById(n)||(o=e.getElementsByTagName(s),a=o[o.length-1],c=e.createElement(s),c.type=”text/javascript”,c.async=!0,c.id=n,c.src=[“https:”===location.protocol?”https://”:”http://”,”widget.surveymonkey.com/collect/website/js/tRaiETqnLgj758hTBazgd_2BwXQLRKfpkNUYvjv8rvHPCLFBsolB6VTF5GwOAZk2M0.js”].join(“”),a.parentNode.insertBefore(c,a))})(window,document,”script”,”smcx-sdk”);
