Show synopsis
Last week’s Fully Charged Live played host to a wide range of electrically-invested companies. Ford saw a lot of attention as visitors lined up for a test drive of the Mustang Mach-e. The plug-in hybrid (PHEV) Kuga was also on display, giving passers-by an opportunity to weigh up the stepping-stone model.
But the show was not just about the latest all-electric models. Electric Classic Cars also drew crowds with an impressive line-up of retro models. However, as it was Fully Charged Live, these vehicles were not there to promote the drivetrains of yesteryear. Instead, the models on display featured electric motors, bringing them up to date for a new era.
Whether converted classics or all-electric from the off, these vehicles will all require charging. Enter Bonnet, an app which aims to simplify infrastructure access by connecting networks and streamlining payment.
For those looking to get their hands on an electric vehicle, there are many different purchasing options and platforms. But two which generated a lot of attention at Fully Charged Live were Cinch and Elmo. Online used-car platform Cinch provided a space for people to experience used electric cars, while Elmo opened up the possibility of an electrified subscription model.
As with every other fuel type, fleets will be a major source of electric models for the used-car market. Committed to electrifying its own fleet as well as creating more sustainable transport options, National Grid was prominent at the event with its interactive pledge wall encouraging people to go green.
DPD is already making strides in the pursuit of delivering greener transport. The delivery and logistics company had its own range of branded low-emission models on display. Opening tests of its mobile charging service in London this summer, L-Charge discussed the advantages of its off-grid technology powered by what is effectively a scalable mini power plant.
No trip to Fully Charged Live is complete without a test drive and Nissan offered up experiences with the Ariya. The all-electric crossover is packed with features and is due for delivery in the UK this summer.
The most recent Fully Charged Live in Farnborough, UK, set the scene for upcoming events around the world. At the end of May, Amsterdam will play host to one of the platform’s all-electric motor shows. Following this, San Diego will plug in to the phenomenon in September, with another electric-car show scheduled for March 2023 in Sydney.
